Whispered

questions

Every question is welcome. This FAQ speaks softly, and stays just in reach.

  • What exactly is Apoena Voyages?
Apoena is not a travel agency, and not a travel planner either. We are a narrative and sensory travel house — focused solely on Brittany. We design written paths, hand-drawn maps, and thoughtful presence. No packages, no bookings. Just quiet, grounded guidance.
  • Do you book hotels or activities?
We don’t. And that’s intentional. We offer guidance, not transactions — so you stay free to choose what fits you best. Each recommendation comes with context and clarity, but the final step is always yours. It keeps things simple, flexible, and fully transparent.
  • How is this different from a travel planner?
Travel planners often build full itineraries, sometimes book for you, and work across many destinations. We focus on one region only — Brittany — and we write each journey from scratch, like editors. No templates. No commissions. Only attentive, local, narrative work.
  • Why is it a paid service if you don’t make bookings?
Because what we create is time, clarity, and trust. Each itinerary takes hours of research, selection, writing, and adjustment. And you only pay us — we accept no commission, no referral bonus, no hidden fee. Every recommendation is independent.
  • Is this a luxury service?
No. It’s not about status or exclusive access. It’s a human service — thoughtful, personal, built with care. We take time to understand your rhythm, your needs, your pace. Nothing is outsourced. Nothing is rushed. Everything is designed with you, and for this place.
  • Why only Brittany?
Because we live here. We know the tides, the shortcuts, the mornings that matter. We chose depth over reach — one region, explored slowly. To write well, we believe you have to stay.
  • Who is this service designed for?
Apoena is for travellers who want time, not performance. You might be travelling solo or as a couple, often between 35 and 65. You enjoy walking without a plan, reading signs in the landscape, choosing late, but wisely. If you prefer presence over entertainment, and depth over coverage — you’re in the right place.
  • What if I’ve never been to Brittany?
That’s perfect. We’ll help you get your bearings without overwhelming you. No must-sees, no top 10 lists — just signals to help you find your own pace and path.
  • I’ve already visited Brittany. Is this still relevant?
Yes — especially if you want to experience it differently. We work with contrasts, not repetition. A known place can feel new, if you shift the time of day, the season, or the way you move through it. Many of our travellers come back not to see more — but to feel more.
  • I’m not fluent in French. Will that be a problem?
Not at all. All of our communication is available in English, and our materials are designed for non-French speakers. We also include practical notes to help you navigate daily things: opening hours, local habits, signs, food culture, and more — without turning your trip into a guidebook.
  • I’m travelling with kids / a group / someone elderly — can this work?
Yes, we adapt as best we can. Our itineraries are always tailored to your pace, your constraints, and your daily energy. If your group has specific needs — mobility, timing, age ranges — we’ll take that into account from the start. And if your journey requires a high level of care or complex logistics, we might suggest our Signature service, available on request.
  • When should I contact you before my trip?
Ideally, at least 3 months in advance. We work with a seasonal calendar and a limited capacity — 300 travellers per year, no more than 75 per season. This ensures we keep each journey personal, considered, and never rushed. Short-notice requests are only possible for our lightest format, Le Phare, and only if availability allows.
  • What do I need to provide?
Not much — just the essentials. Once your request is confirmed, we’ll ask about your dates, rhythm, any known preferences, and what kind of moments you’re hoping for. If you already have bookings or constraints, we’ll build around them.
  • What will I receive from you?
That depends on the service you choose. It may include: a personalized itinerary, a sensory map, daily suggestions, written fragments, access to us via WhatsApp, and more. We’ll always tell you clearly what’s included — and what isn’t.
  • Can I make changes along the way?
Yes. All our formats allow for adjustments — to some extent. The more flexible your request, the more reactive we can be. If you need full flexibility, we’ll recommend the “Vision” or “Horizon” formats, which include daily support.
  • How do I pay? Is it secure?
You’ll receive a clear quote and a secure payment link (via Stripe or PayPal). No subscriptions, no automatic billing, no commission-based pricing. We charge by day of travel planned — nothing more.
  • Will you be available during my trip?
Yes. In all formats, we remain reachable — mainly via WhatsApp — during your stay. Depending on the option you’ve chosen, this might mean occasional replies or daily check-ins. We respond during the day, and always as soon as we can.
  • What if my plans change once I’m there?
That’s part of the journey. Weather, energy, unexpected closings — we adjust when needed. With Vision or Horizon, we fine-tune the itinerary as you go, softly and in real time.
  • Can I ask for new suggestions on the spot?
Yes — especially with Le Phare and above. We’re happy to suggest an alternative beach, a quiet café, a market you wouldn’t have found otherwise. We don’t push content, but we answer whenever you ask.
  • Do you track the weather or local events?
Yes. That’s part of our role. We monitor tides, wind, light, village markets, and closures. You don’t need to worry about those things — we’ll adjust suggestions accordingly.
  • What happens if something goes wrong?
We’re not an emergency service, but we’re here. Lost connection, a change of train, or a day that just feels off — let us know. We’ll help you regain direction, gently.
